Broccoli and Tuna Bake Recipe

A simple and versatile Broccoli bake that makes a filling side dish.


750g broccoli
4 Medium tomatoes
1 Tin of tuna (400g in brine)
Grated cheese

For the white sauce:
600ml pint milk
60g butter
60g flour

Recipe Instructions

Cook the broccoli.
Trim off the stalks of the broccoli and boil for a few minutes until it is a strong green color. Drain well and place it in the base of an oven proof dish.

Prepare the tuna.
Drain the tuna and spread it on top of the broccoli. Slice the tomatoes and layer them on top of the tuna.

Make the white sauce.
Melt the butter over a low heat. Add the flour and stir with a wooden spoon until it thickens and becomes doughy. Cook for a few minutes continuously stirring. Add the milk in slowly letting it become absorbed before adding more. The mixture should now be a liquid again. Stir the liquid continuously over a low heat until it thickens and then pour it over the tuna layer. Sprinkle with grated cheese.

Bake for 40 minutes at 180C.
